Hurricane Bill, 2009 : When I saw the reports of Hurricane Bill traveling up the eastern seaboard I knew there would be an opportunity to photograph large waves along the coast of Maine. I looked at the map and decided to travel to Acadia National Park's, Schoodic Point. It was early Sunday morning as I made my way through the forrest from Clifton. The wind was blowing and the rain was falling and I thought to myself, I'll be the only on there.....boy, was I wrong. The park was full of spectators out to see the waves with many people carrying their cameras. I had to park about a mile away from the point and walk and as it turned out I was one of the last allowed in as the park closed due to the crowds. The first six images show one of the biggest waves of the day, a rogue wave which was at least twice the normal size. It starting breaking well before its contact with the rocky shore. Unfortunately this wave washed several spectators into the ocean.
