Roseate Spoonbills (Platalea ajaja)
Wood Island Light. Located at the entrance to Saco Bay, this light was built in 1808 and rebuilt in 1858. Its conical white tower is made of granite blocks. A long lens is required to get this shot. Image taken at the East Point Sanctuary in Biddeford Pool looking north so the sun is good any time of the day. Naturally morning or evening light is best.
Goat Island Light. Located in Kennebunkport was built in 1835 and rebuilt in 1859. This brick lighthouse rests on an exposed natural ledge foundation. Accessible by boat only. This image was taken from the Cape Porpoise Pier with a long lens.
Cape Neddick Light (Nubble Lighthouse) is located in York, Maine. Built in 1879 , the lighthouse tower stands 88 ft. above mean high water. Sohier Park allows access which is very close to the lighthouse. No long lens needed here and photos are taken looking north so any time of the day is good but naturally morning or evening light is best. There are seafood shacks with great food and lots to see....
