on December 21, 2011Gorgeous bird, and a gorgeous portrait. I have yet to capture the male American Goldfinch in this kind of light and with such a background. I don't remember anything but the blue jay from my youth in MA and NH.

on August 3, 2010Our American Goldfinches are mating, but they seem fairly dull this year. At first I thought it was just the Lesser Goldfinches, but it's true of the others as well. This is such a great image of the male in all his finery.
