The staff was outstanding and the facility was spotless. Staying overnight was the right decision which allowed us time to enjoy the sights and to relax with our favorite wine.

  • Ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) male. <br /> I left the Island Inn at 4:30 am to catch the sunrise at White Head. On the way back I came across this beautiful pheasant near the lighthouse. He ran through the field and up onto this stump where he posed for a short while. I was wishing I had my 600mm lens as he was about 100 yards away. I took a few shots and tried to move my tripod closer but he became uncomfortable and took off into the brush. The images lack some detail but it was the best I could do with my 70-210 lens. I intend to make another trip to Monhegan Island with my telephoto just to shoot him again. He was really beautiful.
